Throughout my life, I have thought of myself as an optimist. Lately, though, I have been wondering if it is time to rethink that label.
When it came to my clients, I always had some level of optimism for them solving their problems and overcoming their challenges. But between today's politics, natural disasters, and the craziness of some people's actions, I've wondered if I'm becoming more cynical and pessimistic in my old age.
Do you consider yourself more optimistic or pessimistic? You might appreciate taking a few moments to test how optimistic you really are. Dr. Martin Seligman and his team at the University of Pennsylvania, have a website where you can develop insights into yourself by taking scientifically-tested questionnaires, surveys, and scales. At it, you can take The Optimism Test at no charge.
By clicking on the link above, you will get to the home page of their website. There you can set up a profile and take this and many other tests.
I took the test and learned I'm still basically an optimist but the feedback I received gave me some food for thought on what I might want to work on to increase my level of optimism. Enjoy!
