Do you ever find yourself saying:
- I'm going to eat just one more cookie.
- I'll go back to work after just one more look on Facebook.
- All I need is just one more_________.
So often we use this phrase to procrastinate or do something we know isn't quite good for us. How about turning the tables and using it to our own betterment?
I got the idea for this tip when I was working out with trainer, Stacy Johnson of Mind and Body Connection. Periodically, she would say, "You can do it! Just one more!" And, you know what, I was able to do that one more rep.
We all have times when our resolve is flagging or we feel like we can't go on. Yet, some how it seems less overwhelming to do just one more. It might be one more day of walking, one more meal without overeating, or one more evening without criticizing a loved one. Perhaps you could do one more weekend without drinking too much, or one more cold call. The cool thing is that one more often leads to another and another.
Self care is about finding ways to feel good about yourself. Successfully doing just one more can make that happen!
